Law Clerk Position (Senior)
Kueny Law is hiring a Law Clerk for their Salem office. Must have JD and experience with estate planning, contract drafting, fiduciary accounting. Email resume, cover letter, and law school transcripts here.
Responsibilities

Draft estate planning documents for attorneys’ review.

Draft court pleadings for attorneys’ review and filing to the courts in State of Oregon.

Draft and edit legal opinions, memoranda, or correspondences to be used internally or externally, and discuss legal issues with attorneys.

Research legal issues that arise in the course of matters or cases related to the firm’s practice, or other issues the attorney may require.

Prepare case summaries, memoranda, summaries of opinions to be used by attorneys in court hearings.

Proofread and check citations in court pleadings.

Communicate with attorneys regarding deadlines for filings with court, government agencies, etc.

Ensure all files, complaints and other papers are organized and available in clients’ files.

Prepare briefs and legal memoranda including make appropriate suggestions for supervising attorney to review.

Perform legal research on government benefits, taxation, and related matters.

Review and perform accountings for court proceedings and trust administration.

Participate various firm/team meetings and meetings with clients.

Review and assist in preparing for state and federal tax returns when needed.

Perform other duties or tasks when needed.

All work is performed under the supervision of a licensed attorney.
Job Requirements:

Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) from an ABA-accredited law school with cumulative GPA 3.0 or above.

Five (5) or more years-experience with Microsoft Office 365, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Adobe.

Five (5) or more years-experience in estate planning, contract drafting or equivalent field, experience as paralegal, legal assistant, contract administrator or similar in a corporate, business or law firm setting is acceptable.

Three (3) or more years-experience in fiduciary accounting or equivalent field, experience as paralegal, legal assistant, contract administrator or similar in a corporate, business or law firm setting is acceptable.

Three (3) or more years-experience with case management application, such as Clio.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to details are critical. The right candidate must have the ability to efficiently organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them on time with attention to detail and accuracy.

Exceptional legal writing skills. Excellent grammar, proofreading, and English composition skills are also essential.

Ability to manage multiple tasks independently or as a team member, meet deadlines under pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate with diverse attorneys, staff, and clients. Must possess the ability to provide information with courtesy and tact while safeguarding confidentiality.

Valid driver license in Oregon.

Writing samples and letters of recommendation required as part of interview process.
